In 2018, Nike Tennis shoes made the top five best-selling shoes in America.
The shoes, which are manufactured by a Japanese company, have been on the market since 2007 and are now selling in the millions.
But Nike’s reputation as a company that delivers top-notch shoes has been tarnished.
The company was caught in a sex scandal that involved several employees of its shoe company, Adidas, in 2016, which has been investigated by US law enforcement agencies.
According to The New York Times, the investigation included a probe into allegations that Adidas had used “pink slips” to hide its payments for sex acts.
The company has since announced that the employees involved will be fired.
In 2018, Adidas was found to be paying $2.6 million in illegal payments to a Brazilian woman who said she was paid by the company to have sex with former Adidas employee, Antonio Maria Silva, for five years.
The allegations against the Brazilian woman, who goes by the stage name of Maria Silva (a reference to the Italian opera singer, Maria Calvi), were first reported by The Associated Press.
According to The Times, Adidas’ chief marketing officer, Joe P. Lipsky, said the company was “deeply saddened by the news.”
Adidas has denied the allegations and the Brazilian company has sued the company.
Nike has since said it was not involved in the sexual misconduct.
The Nike Tennis shoe has since been discontinued.
